St Bernardine’s Outside School Hours Care is a well-established service which provides care children within the grounds of St Bernardine’s Catholic Primary School.
We strive to encourage children to accept challenges, make their own choices, feel happy, safe and be responsible for their own physical health and wellbeing. We provide learning environments which allow children to develop and explore, make choices and have control of their own learning. This includes allowing the children to take ownership over their decisions when making their own food, deciding where and what they want to play and having input into their learning environments.
Each day in December, the children excitedly count the pile of gifts under the Christmas tree as they bring in their donations. Fostering a sense of community at Christmas time, the gifts are delivered to children at Logan Hospital along with festive colouring in packs created by the children. This program beautifully demonstrates the impact of working together for others in our community, helping children grow socially.
